NP Preceptorship Program
Aeris Medical Group offers NP preceptorships on a by-application basis, one semester at a time. We hand-select a small number of students each cycle — those who are genuinely interested in practicing in nursing home and long-term care settings and who we believe could be a fit for our team after graduation. This is not a placement for everyone, and that is by design.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for third-year NP students who want more than a rotation. We are looking for students who are seriously considering long-term care as a career path — not just exploring it — and who want to see what that looks like from the inside.
To be considered, you should:
Be currently enrolled in your third (final clinical) year of an accredited NP graduate program
Have a graduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
Have a genuine interest in practicing in nursing homes or long-term care settings after graduation — this should be a direction you are actively pursuing, not casually considering
Have prior experience in a nursing home or long-term care environment — in any role (does not need to be as an RN)
Hold an active RN license in good standing
Demonstrate strong clinical and professional performance in your program
Be open to — and genuinely interested in — future employment conversations with Aeris Medical Group upon graduation
We give strong preference to students who have spent real time in skilled nursing or long-term care — whether as an aide, LPN, RN, or in another capacity. That experience tells us a great deal about who you are and whether this setting is a genuine fit for you. Students who do not have that background are unlikely to be selected.
How It Works
Preceptorships are offered one semester at a time and filled by invitation — we do not accept open applications on a rolling basis
Students are placed with an experienced Aeris Medical Group nurse practitioner in an active long-term care or skilled nursing setting
Clinical hours completed during the preceptorship may count toward your NP program requirements — coordinate with your program director
At the conclusion of the preceptorship, students who are a strong fit will be invited to have a career conversation with our clinical leadership team
Interested? Let's Talk.
If you are a third-year NP student with a 3.5 or higher graduate GPA, a real background in long-term care, and a serious interest in practicing with us, we want to hear from you. Please submit your interest using the form below.
Aeris Medical Group provides mobile primary care to skilled nursing facilities and long-term care communities across the Midwest. We are building a team of nurse practitioners who are passionate about this patient population — and this preceptorship is one of the ways we find them.
